Album Review: Bikini Cops – Three

Bikini Cops - Three

With so much fucked up shit in the world, it’s nice to listen to Bikini Cops: an actual real band from Australia. Included in all said shit is a lot of other bands: indie pop bands, techno bands, death and black metal bands – whatever have you. Bottom line is: there’s a never-ending stream of shit coming directly for your head. So watch out.

However, do pick up Bikini Cops newest offering, Three 7”, when it comes your way: a nice slab of wavy and quick punk rock that is actually punk and is actually awesome. You don’t have to think with this stuff, you can just feel it and dig it, and it’ll morph into your real cells and you’ll be real again. Just like that.

There’s a desert feel to the group, and that’s understandable: they’re from the great down under; and this desert you’re feeling is freeing, like all that SST stuff that came out of California and the West Coast in the ‘80s. In fact, Bikini Cops would fit right at home on Greg Ginn’s legendary label. They’re a band that doesn’t sound pretentious, they just sound like they’re alive and feeling the beats and rays while there’s still time. Just rocking man, fast and in your face, and simple, and just plain human.

Three 7″ is a good documentation of a band that’s playing real music in the year 2018; and that cannot be overstated enough: some may say there’s more music now than there ever was, but really all that means is there is so much shit in the air that’s it’s become perpetually toxic. Thank goodness for punk rock: real punk rock, like Bikini Cops.
