Album Review: Bummer – Holy Terror

This noise rock band from Kansas City, MI, puts the “power” in power trio as they play a raw and primal form of aggressive music that splits the difference between Bleach-era Nirvana and the early, primitive thrash of Slayer. It’s aggressive and in-your-face, but doesn’t skimp on melody, making their songs memorable. So, there is power and a bit of precision to what they do. A whole lot of volume, too. How much, you say? Well, let’s just say it sounds like it was recorded deep into the red.

On their debut album, they put the metal to the pedal and deliver a furious blast full of lacerating riffs, pounding drums, and thundering bass. They deliver it at a hectic pace, with most songs clocking in around two minutes and some going well under. They have no time to mess around; they get in, kick your ass, and get out before you know what hit you. But you know what? You’ll instantly want to get back on this ride.

Holy Terror marks the arrival of another major new talent on the noise rock scene. You’ll definitely want to snag this album. It’s another hot debut worth your time. Also, we’ve got to give kudos to Learning Curve for being the go-to record label for the best up-and-comers in this modern, neo-noise rock scene. They had Tongue Party earlier in the year, and now this. They’re killing it by putting out some of the best noise rock going.
