Album Review: The Buttertones – Gravedigging

The Buttertones - Gravedigging

Greaser punk and surf rock from Southern California, The Buttertones do great, unique impressions of The Cramps, The Clash and The Beach Boys, injecting spaghetti western, garage rock and even a doo-wop feeling into a dark and unusual listen. An album where no 2 songs sound a like, you’re just as likely to hear a post-punk tune as you are a rockabilly one, and the album as a whole could have been made in any decade from the ’50s on, but sounds refreshing and innovative in 2017.
