Album Review: Citris – Panic In Hampton Bays

Citris - Panic In Hampton Bays

Citris
Panic In Hampton Bays
(New Professor)

The NYC indie-rockers reissue their first album, and though the subject matter (mental illness, emotional abuse) wouldn’t give the you the indication, the fuzzed out guitars, and sweet vocal harmonies are bright, charged and animated. At their loudest and most fierce, you might equate this to a less intimidating, updated version of Babes In Toyland, though there’s plenty of syrupy power-pop moments, acoustic picking and quirkier versions of rock, especially on the 2nd half. Originally released only as a stream in 2015, this version comes on vinyl and deserves to be played loud and often.
