Conveyer
No Future
(Victory Records)
Victory’s latest hardcore act, Conveyer, is one built on a powerful and progressive body. Their new album, No Future, makes this clear more than once in its length, starting with “Dust”; here, the band builds to an angry introduction ending in the lines, “Your kings and rulers all return to the dust / No matter what you do / Any of us.” Moving forward with No Future, Conveyer go on to reinforce this deeply structured formula of lyrical prowess, instrumental diversity, and intricate writing. The only issue with the record is one that is a bit perplexing (considering the skill the band clearly possesses), and that’s that the collection, as a complete effort, falls short in leaving a lasting impression. In the moment, it is a beast of emotion, pleasing and thoroughly entertaining. But once the ride has come to an end, No Future rarely comes to mind, pulling the listener back in for repeated spins. Maybe something small and important is missing…whatever the explanation, Conveyer display great ability on the new release, and it deserves recommendation.
