Todd Gautreau, the driving force behind Crushed Stars, has a healthy streak of producing dreamy, lush indie-rock, and this time he’s back by contributors from Shearwater, War on Drugs, and Cat Power. Relying much on calm guitars and plenty of warm ambience, it’s largely a hypnotic listen, but with plenty of melodies and hooks under dark, ethereal vocals. Penned under themes of isolation in an increasing digital world, there’s a tense moodiness matched by sonic beauty that echoes, wanders and settles adjacent to awe inspiring.
