It’s hard to believe that Deaf Poets are just a duo, as their walls of sound and unrelenting distortion are vast. Inspired by their cross country move from Miami to Brooklyn, Sean Wouters and Nico E.P. turn in six versions of metallic influenced classic rock that can be as ominous as Black Sabbath or as fuzzed out as the early days of grunge and sometimes both. Heavy on grooves and pulling in ’80s punk influences, too, this is the band that legions of Led Zeppelin copies wish they were.
