Album Review: Death Eyes – Si La Revancha Fuera Una Opcion

Death Eyes plays some frantically ripping and noisy hardcore punk. On this 7″, which follows a full-length debut from 2015, they get in, tear it up and get out before you even know what hit you.

They stick four short burners which all average about a minute or under on the “Death” side of this record. “Life” is :34 of furious mathy hardcore bliss, while “NPI” stretches out a bit to 1:20, and features a maniacal spoken word breakdown by vocalist Alberto Jurado, to go along with the raging bits. “Lesser Evil” and “Lacra”, which clock in at :57 and :53 respectively, are straight up burners.

The title track which takes up the whole “Eyes” side clocks in at an epic 3:00, especially if you’re a superfast, pissed-off hardcore band. On it, Jurado, rants in Spanish with a noisy mid-paced trawl. It’s exhilarating way to close out the second side of the single.

Si La Revancha Fuera Una Opcion is one serious blast of hardcore. Don’t get scared off by its short run time. This is a case of quality over quantity. When it’s done, you’ll just want to play it again.
