Album Review: The Dig – ‘Bloodshot Tokyo’

The Dig - Bloodshot Tokyo

The Dig
Bloodshot Tokyo
(Roll Call Records)

New York’s The Dig put a unique spin on indie-rock, gleaming influences from the ’60s and ’70s, where psyche-rock, and synth work unfold into a dimension of modern pop that is nothing if not atypical. Emile Mosseri and David Baldwin offer dual gender vocals, and the groove and dance friendly ideas present certainly make this 3rd album more accessible to a wider audience, as the organs and spacey, ambient moments keep the predictability low and the creativity high. Change can be a tricky endeavor when it comes to an unwavering fanbase, but The Dig are surely going to appease old fans while recruiting new ones here.
