Album Review: Eagle Johnson & Clean Machine – Tennessee Beach

Eagle Johnson & Clean Machine - Tennessee Beach

A fitting title for their debut album, Eagle Johnson and company bridge the gap between the rowdy, rustic sounds of Nashville and the glorious sun drenched vibes of Johnson’s formative years in Florida. Mostly, though, it’s an erratic assembly of guitar based rock songs where lines between garage rock and psychedelia are blurred, and strong vocal harmonies invite the listener to repeated spins. Occasionally bringing in blues influences, it’s never short on rawness and ideas that run parallel with the Beatles, My Morning Jacket or the creativity of Stephen Malkmus.
