Echo Bloom have already explored folk and rock with fantastic results on their 3 previous albums, and here Kyle Evans and company bring their creative prowess into rootsy Americana meets pop-rock territory. Heavy on atmosphere and with an orchestral backdrop, it’s a warm, intimate listen, where the rhythm section works fluently being both playful and restrained, and Evans’ strong vocals are occasionally complemented by Aviva Jaye. Primarily a guitar album, keys add much to their formula, though the dreamy melodies and meticulous detail to songwriting are what really make Echo Bloom a stand out in a crowded genre. Green should be embraced as wide as anything done by The Lumineers; the talent is present in spades.
