Album Review: Fault – GUTS

Fault - GUTS

Fault
GUTS
(Self-Release)

By breaking down the barrier and constraints of the norm, American alternative band Fault purposefully gnash their teeth and enforce a melodic sound. Although, louder sounds mark their territory, there’s an emotional undercurrent brewing under the weight of the guitars. And on first listen, the sadness hits, the pessimism flourishes, and the music holds its own.

It’s the lyrics too, those burning words, those words of sentiment. They come together in unison and open up worlds and tickle the imagination and create a daring plot. Not many acts can achieve such a connection, an electrifying surge of tone and measure. Fault do this with such ease and credibility, marking their place on a musical platform only set out for acts that champion diversity. And diversity is key when creating music. Who wants to listen to mundane sounds which you can’t marvel at or fall into?

GUTS is the EP of substance and empowerment. It’s a record not bounded but let free. And when those guitars and angelic vocals intertwine, there is rawness and magic piercing its way through. Not only do we have a contribution proudly standing against the incoming tide of scrutiny, but we have a quality piece of music. From the blistering pace of ‘’Buried’’ to the emotionally layered ‘’Hallways’’, the beauty doesn’t become horrifically defaced. It carries on, complete in its delivery. And with these songs all relevant to the album’s progress, the story-line always grows.

Fault are a band of character and talent. Their future is brighter than a well-lit street.
