Although The Feelies never achieved any serious mainstream fame, they’ve inspired legions of very important musicians and at some point in their 5 decade career were your favorite bands favorite band. On their 6th album and 2nd since reforming in 2011, the legends keep the sounds hushed and minimal, but with a wealth of melody intact. The Velvet Underground influence is abundant here, with tireless, warm, acoustic strumming, that is sublimely layered and occasionally builds into fuller, more forceful rock. Though it’s a far cry from the post-punk sounds that they made so many fans with, this relaxed version of The Feelies is just as impressive.
