If you had told me that Field Report was David Gray reinvented as indie-pop, I would have believed
you. Instead, it’s Chris Porterfield and company, from Wisconsin, whose folk style of storytelling is met
with bright, summery pop hooks. Often taking a full approach, synth, background vocals, and ambient
moments comprise most of the album, though more melancholic acoustic tunes are present, pointing
more towards their early days. Extremely dense lyrically and with vivid imagery, it’s a thoughtful listen
that fans of Bon Iver or Iron & Wine will find captivating.
