Progressive indie-rock from Maine, this first album from Five Of The Eyes is a peculiar listen with incredibly technical musicianship that’s both charged and melodic. Darrell Foster puts on a vocal performance with incredible range that’s flawless, and musically it’s wide ranging enough to bring At The Drive-In, The Mars Volta and Circa Survive to mind, but with a significant nod to metallic riffs and some very complicated beauty as well. While most bands who attempt this level of intricacy only succeed in creating a fumbling mess, FOTE instead deliver one of the most interesting albums in recent history.
