Don’t be fooled by a generic band name, cause these 4 from Urbana, Illinois play an unusual and charming brand of elegant noise that’s indebted to psyche-rock as much as it is jazz. While there are plenty of melodic and folk moments here with Vivian McConnell’s soft voice, she’s also versed in several other vocal expressions that match many moments of raw, distorted, and nearly disjointed music- very much not what you’d expect from a band with members that were classically trained. Multi-layered, detailed and with abrupt changes in sound, tempo and aesthetics, this is a fantastic 2nd album.
