Album Review: Hi Lo Ha – Ain’t Gone Tonight

An outfit created by Ben Reisdorph and Brian Davis who named themselves after the home that Bob Dylan penned Highway 61 Revisited after, Ain’t Gone Tonight takes the timeless spirit of Dylan but updates it with a warm feeling akin to Built to Spill or Wilco.

Often dreamy with plenty of vocal harmonies, there’s also country, folk, and surf rock moments, while nods to the ’60s, and plenty of attention paid to ambiance and atmosphere give this one a very distinct irresistibility. Indie-rock fans who also appreciate legends like The Byrds or The Grateful Dead will want to pay attention here.
