Album Review: Life of Agony – A Place Where There’s No More Pain

Life of Agony - A Place Where There’s No More Pain

Life of Agony
A Place Where There’s No More Pain
(Napalm Records)

It’s definitely been a minute since I’ve put much thought into Life of Agony, and my honest initial reaction to their first new studio release in over a decade (and only fifth overall) was that of surprise, not to mention disbelief by just how utterly “90s” it sounds. Not that I’m complaining. There’s actually plenty of effective tracks that get the job done right, including “Dead Speak Kindly,” “Right This Wrong,” and the wordy title track. Despite the recent drastic changes that may have taken place within the band (e.g. lead singer Keith Caputo’s transition to Mina Caputo), it hasn’t changed L.O.A.’s sound in any way, for better or worse; in short, they’ve still got it.
