Argentinian born and London raised Malena Zavala’s first LP shows impressive skill at both sparse and full songwriting, where lush, soaring sounds sit on the cusp of psyche-rock and creative versions of pop. With a sense of unpredictable rhythm and often light airy, atmospheres, there’s both a display of stirring dreaminess and a haunting quality that makes this a really unique listen that’s difficult to classify, but is reminiscent of Beach House, Mazzy Star and Devandra Banhart. Reportedly the first ten songs Zavala has written, this is an artist to keep an eye on for further greatness.
