Album Review: Mothership – High Strangeness

Mothership - High Strangeness

Mothership
High Strangeness
(Ripple Music)

Holy boat load of riffs, Batman.

Boogie down with this intense stoner atmospheric rock jamboree; the waves of crunchy jams recorded and mixed by Ryan Lee (of psychedelic rock group Crypt Trip) are a stoner opus. Take a journey with Mothership, and drown out the dystopia in a wall of fuzz rich with stories of the road. The bass and reverb on High Strangeness will enchant you, and this groovy wonderland is laden with far out solos that will set you off into cosmic altitudes – the band is called Mothership for good reason.

Dallas, Texas may not be the space capital of the world, but this band has certainly exposed an intergalactic scene in the heart of Cowboy town. Inching along with catchy build ups that sink into your gut, Mothership explode in every chorus, then take you back down again for the wild ride. If you were to ever ride a space stallion through the infinite void, picture this psychedelic sonic boom as your flight music. Their music is made from the sexy sludge that fueled artists like Hawkwind, Hendrix, and U.F.O. If you fancy having a good time, select your seat and take a ride on Mothership, and when you come back I might have another witty space pun.

High Strangeness is yet another successful effort in the war against bad tunes. This is one of those bands you want to stick around for.
