Ambient music from Tristan McNeil, this electronic artist has an unusual ability to collide throwback synth sounds with futuristic visions, often using iconoclastic rhythm patterns and calculated noise. Not so surprisingly, Blood began as a film score, and unravels with an ominous and gothic tone, where vocals are sparse and when used are indiscernible at best, as random sounds appear amid his self-described ‘dirty south drone’. Feedback, reverb, and dark, mysterious soundscapes are a large part of the listen, and the skill in which it is pulled off with never relegates it to background music.
