Album Review: Obituary – ‘Ten Thousand Ways to Die’

Obituary - Ten Thousand Ways to Die

Although I’ve never claimed to be the biggest death metal fan in the world, Obituary has always been one band I’ll make an exception for (come to think of it, Slowly We Rot was actually one of the first death metal albums I ever owned).

This latest collection from them contains just two new studio tracks, but also includes eleven live songs recorded in various cities over the course of last year’s Inked in Blood tour. Both new tracks are definitely worthy of a listen; “Loathe” is as epic as anything else they’ve ever done, while “Ten Thousand Ways to Die” is a fast, straight-to-the-point headbanger. Chances are if you’re a fan, this should hold you over until the band drops their next full-length album in 2017.
