Album Review: The Pack A.D. – ‘Positive Thinking’

The Pack AD - Positive Thinking

The Pack A.D.
Positive Thinking
(Cadence)

A late entry for album of the year, the Canadian duo of The Pack A.D., Becky Black and Maya Miller, are still firmly in grasp of their punk and garage rock roots, but flirt with psyche-rock and rockabilly on this 6th album. Largely intimidating and crushing in a lush and welcoming fashion, Black’s fierce guitar riffs are met with powerful drumming from Miller, and the resulting noisey melody is the sort of raw, gritty and tumultuous experience that never seems to arise from only 2 people. You may not have heard of The Pack A.D. before this, but you’ll have a hard time forgetting them after you listen.
