The New York trio return with 22 tunes of their aberrant pop sounds and quick, frenzied lo-fi fun.
A jangly, artsy, and dizzying display of quirky talent, the vocal melodies and highly unusual song structures are difficult to not enjoy, and though any single genre is impossible to nail down here, surf rock, doo-wop, disco, and jazz are all hinted at, though filtered through Palberta’s off-kilter punk vision.
Largely instrumental, the women use vocals strategically, as they constantly shift in tempo, style, and approaches that are never conventional and always interesting, including reworking a Hall & Oates classic with a clarinet solo.
The special edition LP (limited to just 50 and hand numbered), even comes with a tour poster and special flexi.
