Now here are some serious punk credentials- the rhythm section of The Damned and frontmen from The Adolescents and Mind Over Four come together over their love of horror movies and Edgar Allen Poe. However, if we were expecting sounds along the lines of their pedigree, we’d be selling the band short; though their punk roots are still deeply embedded in their approach, much of this album is Brit-rock, power-pop and even prog-rock inspired, sometimes unusual in a David Bowie sort of way, and other times powerful and straight forward ala Cheap Trick. Of course the songwriting and delivery are top notch as all players have been in the game for decades now, and the experimental and quirky side of UK punk meshes quite well with the furious old school California punk.
