Satanic Warmaster
Black Metal Kommando/Gas Chamber
(Werewolf Records)
Satanic Warmaster is a band that divides and creates controversy everywhere. In an age where people are constantly witness to the atrocities of ethnic hatred and violence, radicalization is the new normal. Despite dodging the NSBM dogma, Werewolf continues to carry a torch against Abrahamic society, which pretty much means he is still pissing people off.
So it makes sense that the iconic kvlt Satanist black metal artist is re-releasing an album that made such a landmark in the early 2000s black metal scene.
Werewolf’s creative focal vision was no better expressed than on Black Metal Kommando/Gas Chamber compilation. Although the debut album Strength & Honour does a finer job at pulling together heavier punches, Black Metal Kommando/Gas Chamber was a more dynamic attempt at aesthetic and ambiance from a cruel black source. This rare and once out of print comp is a destructive force of heathen nature that delivers the full artistic integrity of a controversial black metal icon. Few are on BMK’s par or as often sought in the hidden burrows of anti-Semitic black metal, however, as a personal opinion that may be half to do with the incredibly memorable artwork on the cover.
Werewolf certainly wasn’t ever going to usurp Burzum’s mantle as the involuntary and surrogate leader of an apocalyptic movement, but he revitalized it with a respectable passion for the bare bones punk infused black metal assault at a time where the genre was surrounded at all sides by new corporate idioms and trends. Black Metal Kommando isn’t going anywhere. The punk rock roots of Werewolf are preserved in the Black Metal Kommando/Gas Chamber re-release.
