Album Review: Soft Pyramids – ‘Planes’

Soft Pyramids - Planes

Soft Pyramids
Planes
(Self-Release)

These Boston area indie-rockers took a different route on this sophomore album, opting for a studio live feel sans any scripting or planned writing. The result is alt-psyche rock journey of hazy grooves that’s heavy on the moods, and contains an atmosphere that’s ’90s influenced. Elements of Death Cab, Dum Dum Girls and The Walkmen are present, but the intricate layers and gentle, lush exploration are entirely their own, as Soft Pyramids carve out a unique and impressive space in the world of indie-rock.
