Album Review: Strange Hellos – Chromatic

Strange Hellos - Chromatic

Dreamy indie-pop from Norway, this debut album hardly unfolds like a young band, as the quartet play with a skill and memorableness that parallels legends like Teenage Fanclub or Velocity Girl. While there’s enough synth to satisfy any ’80s fanatic, there's just as much ’90s indie-rock, as the album soars, jangles and even gets acoustic, though briefly. A band talented at both fuzzed out rock as well as sweet pop sounds (think The Cardigans), while it’s not exactly groundbreaking, it is absolutely, undeniably fantastic.
