Album Review: Streets Of Laredo – ‘Wild’

Streets Of Laredo - Wild

Streets Of Laredo
Wild
(Dine Alone)

These New Zealanders (now residing in Brooklyn) haven’t wasted much time making themselves everyone’s new favorite band, and this 2nd album, if there were ever any justice in the music business, should make them superstars. Dual gender vocals from siblings Dan and Sarahjane Gibson add a sweet and Bob Dylan-ish texture to their layered indie-folk meets dream-pop that utilizes horns, keys, synth, and, above all, a whole lot of imagination. A steady stream of warm harmonies and careful melodies suit both their pop based and grittier ways, ensuring that if you thought you already knew every Americana/modern folk outfit worth space in your collection, well, you haven’t heard Streets of Laredo yet.
