A swiftly rising duo from Boston, Tim Harrington and Paul Wright’s casual folk sounds, lush arrangements and aching cello return, though this time with help from the percussion end in the studio. While some songs take R&B into consideration and synth makes its way into the equation, the pair’s guitar picking and cello heroics are thankfully still at center stage, and their dualing vocals complement the warm and breezy harmonies. While the band have certainly expanded beyond their early, sparse days, this version of progressive folk is more sonically challenging and atypical, illustrating a progression that trumps the legions of similar artists. As timeless as Simon & Garfunkel or Fleet Foxes, this is a daring approach that is sure to appease their fans while garnering many more.
