Album Review: Threefifty – Gently Among the Coals

Gently Among the Coals

Describing the sound of Brett Parnell and Geremy Schulick – the duo behind Threefifty – is no easy task. While the pair are adept with melodies, they’re far from typical, and the songs progress with a dramatic flow, but are never predictable. Mandolins, female vocals, trumpets, fiddles and many guests allow each song to be painted uniquely like canvas, as the sonic beauty and inventive post-rock glides by with baroque, folk and abstract Americana feelings. Hands down one of the most creative albums of 2017.
