Sabaton have unveiled a lyric video for the song “Sparta.” The Swedish metal band is known almost exclusively for writing songs dealing with historical battles, and “Sparta” follows that recipe. Sabaton comment on the content of the song, “The battle of Thermopylae is in many ways one of the most iconic last stands in history. King Leonidas and his 300 Spartans were certainly not as alone as portrayed in the famous movie “300”, but in the end it was their sacrifice that would be remembered by the world to come. An amazing story of the Greek nation states which would rather die than lose their freedom.” The song is full of epic melodies and choir vocals, revealing an almost call to war spirit embedded within the tune.
Sabaton began using this as their song writing technique after watching Saving Private Ryan. “Sparta” is off of their most recent release, The Last Stand, which was released on August 19th via Nuclear Blast Records. The band is embarking on a full U.S. Tour starting today.
