We’re pleased to bring you the premiere of Sad Baxter’s music video for their song “Believe Me” (watch it below). The track is taken from the band’s forthcoming So Happy EP, which is scheduled to be released on July 20, 2018 through Cold Lunch Recordings. You can pre-order the album here.
Sad Baxter guitarist/vocalist Deezy Violet commented on the video:
The general idea behind this video is just to kind of show that everyone is different, and that you should just be yourself. No matter how much you try to appeal to everyone, it does not guarantee that anybody will like you more. We have a pageant of people who are just being themselves and the judges go back and forth – but the one person trying to fake it (my contestant) for approval and praise is met with little to no response, unlike the other contestants who are just being themselves. It’s way better to be true to yourself and feel that sort of freedom than to be constantly putting on a show for others and wondering why it’s not good enough for people.
Violet conitnued about the song:
I wrote this song when a friend of mine was going through some dark times. Because of this, they would act out, and people would just back away. When I was a teenager, I went through life changes that left me unable to communicate my needs or thoughts properly, and as a result my friends just backed away. It makes the pain so much harder to endure, watching people retreat from you just because you’re having trouble – so I felt for my friend. I wanted this person to know they were still seen, heard, loved, and had someone there for them. I couldn’t figure out how to say everything I wanted to say, and I knew I couldn’t be everything for them, so the most I could do was just be there to talk to and laugh with, and to try to keep them hovering above the darkness just for a bit longer.
