We’re pleased to bring you the premiere of Selofan’s music video for their song “I’m Addicted” (watch it below). The track is taken from the band’s latest album Vitrioli, which is available now through Greek label Fabrika Records.
The video’s director, Dimitris Chaz Lee, commented:
Addiction is an ‘unhealthy’ bond between a person and something else. Whether you’re drawn to a substance, object, person, idea or feeling, addiction works the same way. Only the consequences change. It’s not to be said if it’s a bad or a good thing, it’s destructive as much as creative. We all capture glances of reality, some people use cameras and others don’t. Addiction is a mental state, something inside all of us. It altered our perception and created a parallel world of avant-garde beings and flashy lights making us part of this everlasting bond.
About the video:
To pull off one of their most addicted videos, well-known purveyor of allusive, synth-infused coldwave music Selofan embrace the audience with a new work of art. Directed by Dimitris Chaz Lee and filmed by Alex Sinodinos, the video hosts a surreal photo shooting, where androgynous creatures and dark souls pose along with the band in the ‘’brightest’’ Selofan video so far, in front of a white background. In this sterile parallel world music history is written as the current heroes of the Athenian electronic music scene meet the leader of the 80’s historical band, In Trance 95’s Alex Machairas, starring as the photographer.
This video features bold sublime characters with a series of pompous vignettes in which the band conveys mild artistically-criticizing depictions of people’s fascination and obsession with idolizing self and creating a motion-sick illusion with a main façade of happiness and self-worth to prove we have a perfect life. Joanna sings ‘’For you my heart beats only’’ and Selofan manage to once more conquer our hearts.
