What a night of beautifully constructed metal music. Tuesday, May 15th TesseracT brought their tour package to Summit Music Hall and I was beyond captivated the entire time (and the pizza is great there as well). Opening up was Astronoid, who have a register of incredible dynamic. Their song “Incandescent” was phenomenally played live, with the guitars really ringing through the monitors. The songs are lengthy, but have multiple peaks of bursting melodies and progressions. The airy vocals danced through the orchestration wonderfully.

Up next was Plini and I believe I cried of excitement at least once. The Australian act plays extremely melodic and sonically soaring instrumental music. In 2016 Plini released Handmade Cities and it was easily one of my favorite releases. Between the atypical time signatures, wondrous grooves and the winding guitar solos, there is a beautiful motif played throughout each track. I can’t really describe how perfect the live show was. The cadence of everything was fantastic and ending the set with “Electric Sunrise” was joyous. Everyone on stage was smiling, happy to be there and the crowd was happy to receive this performance. Honestly, this was one of my favorite sets I have ever seen.

And then came TesseracT. The last time I saw this band was in 2011 touring behind One. Lineup changes and multiple albums later we have their latest great, Sonder. Wow. The group is extremely tight on stage and the vocals really shined. Every note, pitch, scream was done extremely well and with a ton of emotion. The choppy grooves were massive live, really making them feel on top of the world. Opening with “Luminary”, the opening track off of Sonder, was a wonderful experience and set the stage for the rest of the show. Their massive setlist included songs from Polaris and they even made me scream with happiness when they played Concealed Fate, Part 1, 2, AND 3. This tour package is immensely amazing and is on the wind down. If they’re coming anywhere near you, definitely see it, especially since Plini and TesseracT don’t originate from here.
