We’re pleased to bring you the premiere of Singing Lungs’ new lyric video for their song “I Wanna Watch TV With You” (watch it below). The track is taken from the band’s forthcoming debut album Groan, which is scheduled to be released on September 28, 2018.
About the band:
Everyone can remember a time when life was less complicated. There’s something beautiful about simply kicking back and relaxing with that special someone. Singing Lungs revel in these low-pressure situations on “I Wanna Watch TV With You.”
Singing Lungs hail from Grand Rapids, Michigan, a mid-sized city whose primary offerings are beer, food, and punk rock. Though the band only formed in the last year, the foundation was laid decades ago when the members had first met.
Together, Singing Lungs brings their years of experience and musicianship with them into this new venture. With “I Wanna Watch TV With You,” the band tap into the nostalgia-fueled, ‘90s-flavored punk rock they grew up listening. In typical punk fashion, “I Wanna Watch TV With You” burns by in less than two minutes. But in that brief time, vocalist Jason Kotarski describes an evening full of activities that, while not the most adventurous, everyone yearns for at some point in time.
“I Wanna Watch TV With You” is an appreciation for the little things in life. There is a lot of beauty in being able to simply sit brainlessly with someone and watch TV together for hours, simply enjoying one another’s company. While these moments aren’t the most exciting for some, they are the experiences that we cherish for its intimacy. “This song is really just a fun look at settling down with someone you care about and being present with one another,” explains Kotarski. “Rotting our brains in front of the television can be this thing that actually fills our soul.”
The video itself comes from a public domain commercial advertising the remote control as a new device. While times have changed, and new technologies have since become essential to the TV viewing experience, the members of Singing Lungs still hope to simply be sitting back and relaxing with the ones they love.
After the release of Groan, Singing Lungs will share the stage with Mustard Plug at The Loft in Lansing, Michigan alongside Laura Stevenson and Michigan ska-core group, Grey Matter.
