Snotrockett Streams Slummin’ EP

One trait that is common with rock & roll is writing music with your heart on your sleeve. Another trait that goes along with the style is straight up not giving a fuck. Lead by Devin Demers on guitar along with Jared Mann on drums and Trevor White on bass, Snotrockett lives up to both of those traits and more with their Slummin’ EP coming out on March 30 that absolutely shreds. The release is the first in a series of EPs that’s a thunderous introduction from the Providence, RI garage rock act that’s exploding in amplification and energy. There’s also a lot of angst behind each track on Slummin’ for good measure.

“The EP was recorded on a reel to reel at Distorted Forest Studio by Jared,” Demers says on the making of the record. “We just wanted to record live and raw like The Stooges to capture more of a live sound. All the songs are meaningful, it’s not just about partying and pizza. It’s my reflection on what I’ve seen from touring in a band and being told to act a certain way. All I want to do is have fun and play with my friends with no business. Fuck money, have fun and who cares if no one comes out to our shows because rock n’ roll is the reason and nothing else.”

“Fuck You” lives up the title. It has Demers yelling about doing what he wants no matter what the cost is. Demers’ guitar is the machine gun leading a rhythmic army in “Tear It Up”, the track is a ripper that never slows down. Sludgy and badass is the best way to describe “Shred” and there’s a destructive essence that’s abundant throughout the whole track. An old-school chord kicks off “Mess Around” and then it jets right into a rabble rousing display of riffs, beats and structure.

Snotrockett will be celebrating the release of Slummin’ at Aurora in Providence on the night of the EP’s official release with Party Pigs (who’ll also be releasing their debut album that night), noise punks Hairspray Queen and Chicago punks The Howl. The EP will be made available in the cassette format so pick up one at the show. It’s a brain melter for sure and listening to it is the only cure.
