New Noise Magazine is pleased to be bringing forth the exclusive premiere of “Screenshot” by Divest. A strong rhythm and pace keeps listeners nodding their head along to the infectious hooks and structure of the tune. The spacing in the mix that allows for each instrument to combat for the main melody is highlighted through each driven melody. The Norwegian act No Hits Only Hats is the debut-EP from new Norwegian indie act Divest. Energetic, but somehow laid back guitar based indie rock fill the spaces of the EP. All of the songs were recorded in the studio, and it shows with the unique sound coming through on “Screenshot,” which can be heard below.
“There is something with a really fuzzy guitar riff that can resemble those brass sections you find in 60s RnB. This is something we tried to work with on ‘Screenshot.’ Lyricwise the song is about the alienation that comes with social media and living in the 21st. century.” – Divest
Divest is a fresh Oslo-based indie rock quartet that is sure to make waves the coming years. After releasing two excellent singles the band is ready to drop their debut EP (with the fantastic title) No Hits Only Hats.
After a few years of songwriting and practicing the band recorded the EP with producer Morten Øby and uploaded a few demo tracks to their Soundcloud. Suddenly, even before they’d set a release date for anything their previous single Throw me off was playlisted by Norwegian national broadcaster NRK P3. Since then the band has finalized their upcoming EP ‘No Hits Only Hats’ and been chosen as Urørt of the Month at NRK P3, which has given them month long promotional push by the radio station.
