We’re pleased to bring you the premiere of Lilac Daze’s new song “Glow In The Dark” (listen below). The track is taken from the band’s upcoming self-titled album, which will officially be released on October 14th through Black Numbers.
The band comments on the song:
“‘Glow in the Dark’ represents the struggle to be the picture perfect image of who you wish you could be. It’s the culmination of all the sleepless nights you spent self-loathing over all the minor details and insecurities in your life that no one else would find significant. It’s about giving in to the temptations you repeatedly convinced yourself you had given up. It’s then that you realize no one is perfect and everyone is just as screwed up as you.”
Regarding the album, Lilac Daze states:
“This record was written at a transitive and chaotic time in our lives. It’s about learning, exploring, and attempting to understand yourself and your environment. Additionally, it’s about failure and the resiliency that eventually follows.”
About Lilac Daze:
Formed in December 2012, Lilac Daze is a three-piece band from Frederick, Maryland. By blending their love for ’70s New York rock, ’90s indie-rock, and flavors of modern pop, the band develops an unapologetic, punk-meets-lofi-indie sound with heavy influences of Lemuria, Weezer, Pixies, and more. Evan Braswell (guitar/vocals), Patti Kotrady (bass/vocals), and Matt Henry (drums/vocals) take a collective approach to music-making, utilizing their bond as best friends to ensure the contribution of each members’ individual tastes and interests.
The band first starting writing music in Evan’s basement and swiftly self-released their first EP, On Forgiving Myself, in the winter of 2013. Over the past few years, the band has completed various tours around the US, sharing the stage with acts such as Spraynard, Pygmy Lush, and Foozle. In 2014, the band released their crushing Sedated EP on Black Numbers, which received high praise from Stereogum, The A.V. Club, and Brooklyn Vegan.
Even with their debut LP on the horizon, Lilac Daze plans to continue their processes of writing, performing, and touring to share the music they hold dear.
