New Noise Magazine is pleased to be bringing forth “Lies” by Shanghai Blues. Catch the band on tour and check out this rocking single below.
“’Lies’ is based on a shit relationship that one of the band members had. We find that it’s always easy to write an emotional song, but not always so easy to convey those emotions on the record – that’s always the biggest challenge. We’re super lucky to have Oz Craggs (Feed The Rhino, Neck Deep, Mallory Knox) producing, mixing and mastering our music. He really pushes us to the limit to make sure that we’re getting every drop of blood out of a record, and I think that really shows.
This song is such a blast to play live because it has so much energy – there is honestly no better feeling than smashing it out on stage with your three best mates and having a crowd go fucking mental.” – Shanghai Blues
Selling out headline shows, playing alongside the likes of Glass Caves and The Rifles and receiving support from Music Week, NME, The Evening Standard and Clash Magazine, alternative rock quartet Shanghai Blues return with indie anthem ‘Lies’, September 7th.
Childhood friends hailing from Walthamstow, East London – Shanghai Blues are James Chalk (Vocals, Bass), Reece Ismael (Guitar), James Heed (Guitar) and Mike Stinton (Drums). Although having only formed under two years ago, Shanghai Blues have already travelled the length and breadth of the UK and continue to sell out shows to their insatiable fanbase. Known for their raucous live stage presence, they have already made a name for themselves with slots at The Great Escape (Alt) and City Sound Project.
The band have already featured on several tastemaker playlists including The Indie List, Hot New Bands and Fresh Finds, plus support at Apple Music (Best Of The Week), Abbie McCarthy (BBC Introducing, Radio 1). Their hugely diverse array of influence comes from artists including Jimi Hendrix, Led Zepplin, BB King, RHCP, J Hus, Kanye West, Dinosaur Pile Up, The Strokes and Mooseblood.
