Video Premiere: Steady Decline – “Stay The Same”

We’re pleased to bring you the premiere of Steady Decline’s new music video for their song “Stay The Same” (watch it below). The track is taken from the band’s debut 7-track EP Coping Mechanism, which is scheduled to be released on June 9th through Never Meant Records.

The band commented:

“‘Stay The Same’ is the second single taken from our debut EP ‘Coping Mechanism’. It was the first song written for the EP and it gave us a strong sense of direction of the type of music we wanted to create together, the song itself is about being stuck in a toxic relationship and working towards getting out of that mindset.

We love everything DIY, especially within the music scene, so we try as much as possible to do everything ourselves from booking our own shows, to designing our own merch and even filming our own music videos, we feel it gives us full control on the creative process, we shot the video for ‘Stay The Same’ in April & May of 2017.

The live performance shots we’re filmed in my old room where we wrote the majority of the EP, those walls held so many old memories, good and bad so we felt it a fitting environment to film the video there. The minute we finished filming we took down all the posters and then next day I painted the whole room, it was a nice way to let go of a part of my past and move forward which is what the song is about. The rest of the shots we’re filmed on the East of Ireland in Dublin & Bray with our friends Martina & Aidan and their shots represent elements of the relationship which the song was based on.”

Steady Decline is a 4-piece Irish pop punk with members of Homecomings, Dream State, VERSIVE, and Hostile Smiles.

Band members Jack and Oscar have been playing shows together in separate acoustic acts for roughly two years before deciding to start a new project together. They wrote the debut EP last winter and recorded it in Trackmix Studios in Blanchardstown in early 2017.
