We’re pleased to bring you the premiere of Baerd’ new album Crete (listen below), which is scheduled to be officially self-released on June 8, 2018.
Isaiah Beard commented:
I’ve always tried to write songs that due justice to the complexity of any given feeling or thought, without being flashy. Our first record we had everything tight and well rehearsed, I felt it was very smooth and clear around the edges. For ‘Crete’ we wanted to experiment, take risks, be more rough be more jarring- so I took the band up to a studio in North Idaho, we drove from Boston, and for 10 days we tried to hash out some semi-thought out ideas into a full fledged record, to do the basic tracking. There we left with 9 tracks, a whole bunch of learning had been done, and the seeds to begin the post-production stage which would occur in the bedroom of co-producer Joel Gardella’s house for the next 4 months, mixing and adding and editing and arranging all that we could to make each song the best it could be. For us this record was an adventure, and we think that came across in the end result.
