We’re pleased to bring you the premiere of Living Room’s new song “Decompressor” (listen below). The track is taken from the band’s forthcoming album Worth, which is scheduled to be released through Jetsam-Flotsam on September 8th. You can pre-order the album here.
Living Room guitarist/vocalist Scott Fitzpatrick commented on the song:
“‘Decompressor’ is about when you see yourself in the mirror in a specific light, that certain angle where you look older than you’ve ever been. There, all your flaws, inside and out, present themselves and you make the choice to change. Sometimes the change sticks, sometimes it doesn’t, but from that point on those thoughts are always present. It’s about the limbo state between remaining silent about your problems and reaching out to others for help. But in the end you’re the only one who’s going to make any sort of adjustment, and that, while viewing yourself in the moment, is the scariest thought of all.”
Worth is the follow-up to Living Room’s 2014 debut Moonchaser. The new LP reveals the band that has stretched their combination of emo and post-hardcore in to more melodic and dramatic directions. Sludgier but with more energy, Living Room’s latest experiments with tempos and time signatures, layers pedals and effects, and uses precise rhythms to tame an otherwise messy aesthetic.
Fans of Braid, Title Fight, and Balance and Composure will find a lot to love in Worth.
