We’re pleased to bring you the premiere of Mike Llerena & The Nerve’s new song “Crossfire” (listen below). The track is taken from the band’s forthcoming album Old Haunts & New Horizons, which is scheduled to be released on June 15, 2018.
Mike Llerena commented on the song:
This song is one of the more immediate, punk-inspired songs off the album. The song deals with the anxiety of feeling caught between two opposing sides in an argument. Whether you’re dealing with this in your personal relationships or observing the current state of political discourse in the U.S., the lyrics of the song can apply to different situations.
About the band:
Mike Llerena & The Nerve is a punk-folk band based in Gainesville, FL. – a musical bedrock where acts like Tom Petty and Sister Hazel first emerged.
Shaped by the local punk scene which spawned such acts as Against Me!, Hot Water Music and Less Than Jake; frontman Mike Llerena began contextualizing his influences, mixing classic rock with punk and folk with acts like The Gaslight Anthem and Frank Turner serving as constant reference points in his songwriting.
He started playing live around Gainesville in 2011 and released his debut EP Gold Gone Black in 2014. His second EP Letter of Resignation, released in 2015, landed him an opening for Anthony Raneri (Bayside) and a slot at The Fest (Gainesville’s annual punk rock festival). Llerena released his third solo EP Absence & The Heart in 2017.
In June 2017, Llerena assembled a full band (“Mike Llerena & The Nerve”). The band is currently recording their full-length album debut and will be touring in support of the upcoming release.
Llerena’s music has been featured on 100.5 The Buzz (Gainesville’s New Alternative radio station), as well as publications like Independent Clauses, Onstage Magazine, Slickster Magazine, B-Sides TV, WithGuitars, Delusions of Adequacy, antiMusic, We Do It For The Love Of Music and Incendiary American.
