We’re pleased to bring you the premiere of Mirror Queen’s new song “Verdigris” (listen below). The song is the title track from the band’s forthcoming album, which is scheduled to be released through Tee Pee Records on October 27th. You can pre-order the album here.
Mirror Queen guitarist Ken Sehgal commented on the song:
“The last song written for an album often sounds the freshest. I felt we needed an instrumental, and this song ‘Verdigris’ made it from practice room concept to recording studio in about three weeks. We already had it as the album’s name, I was then inspired to add some lyrics based on that and voilà, a title track. In the same spirit, the solos (including my 12 string one near the end, just because that particular guitar was already in hand from putting rhythm behind guitarist Morgan McDaniel) were pretty much done in one rip. Sonic escapism.”
About the band:
The new LP from NYC volume dealers Mirror Queen, Verdigris, is a masterclass of riff-driven melodic hard rock, combining edgy, street-level rock ‘n’ roll with more cerebral elements of poetry and literature. The group’s driving music accelerates at the distinct point where NWOBHM and heavy Prog Rock intersect; a direct and definite delineation of an era when urgent metallic sound was the order of the day. Featuring additional guitars from SWANS six-stringer Norman Westberg, Verdigris demands headbanging and fists raised to the sky. For fans of Di’Anno-era Maiden, BOC and UFO.
