We’re pleased to bring you the premiere of Richard Vain’s new song “Behind the Eyes” (listen below). The track is taken from the band’s forthcoming Night Jammers LP, which is scheduled to be released on December 7, 2018 through Big Neck Records. You can pre-order the album here.
“Behind the Eyes” is one of the more mellow numbers on the long player, but it’s still a potent mix just in time for Thanksgiving dinner at Grandma’s house.
About the band:
Jered Gummere, who spent time in bands like Bare Mutants (Hozac Records) and the Ponys (In The Red Records / Matador Records), is back with a new band called Richard Vain. If you follow garage punk from the Midwest, then Gummere is probably a name you are quite familiar with. If not, then Richard Vain will be a good starting point to a continuing legacy of slime-drenched indie rock. The first few Richard Vain shows were solo jammers, just Jered, an iPad, a keyboard with a looping pedal, a guitar and sometimes a candle, but the band expanded to a three piece by the time they started recording their upcoming album for Big Neck Records, entitled Night Jammers! The songs on Night Jammers mix the jittery musicianship of post-punk (emphasis on the “punk” part) with the the grungey garage rock of Gummere’s former projects.
