“This is my first solo record in about seven years. I’d like to think that I’m writing about a lot of the same things I always have, but hopefully with a more mature perspective,” comments Toby Foster on his new collection of songs that make up his forthcoming album 100 Ways. “I like to write very personal songs about the more nuanced experiences of life, with the hopes that someone out there can relate to my own feelings.”

Having released his first solo album at the same time he moved to Bloomington, IN (where he’s been ever since), Foster thinks about change, saying “there are some underlying themes about being content with the place you are in, but also wondering if maybe it’s time for a change. I do really love it here, but now I’ve spent almost my entire 20s in a small college town and worry that I am going to someday regret not making some more major changes.”

Today, we’re pleased to bring you the premiere of Toby Foster’s new song “Restless, Tired, Uneasy” (listen below). The track is taken from 100 Ways, which is scheduled to be released on June 2nd on CD/vinyl/digital via Lauren Records and cassette via Let’s Pretend Records.

Foster comments on the song’s meaning: “‘Restless, Tired, Uneasy,’ like a lot of my songs, is about trying to find your place in the world, especially when you’re running out of role models or examples of ways you would like to be living, and worrying that what you’re looking for doesn’t exist. I think there is some hopefulness in there and throughout the album, and hopefully that comes through even when the lyrics might seem a little dark or hopeless.”
