We’re pleased to bring you the premiere of Sugarplum Fairies’ music video for their song “Amper & Sand” (watch it below). The track is taken from the band’s latest album Payday Flowers, which is out now through Starfish Records. You can purchase/stream the album here.
About the band:
Sugarplum Fairies is the moniker of Vienna native Silvia Ryder, supplemented by an array of rotating guest musicians. Originally founded by Ben Bohm and Silvia Ryder, the duo parted ways in 2013 to become a one-woman show. The sound of Sugarplum Fairies bridges the transatlantic gap with an amalgamation of European pop sensibilities and waltzing Americana folk rock, all tied together by Ryder’s evocative vocals.
On the current album Payday Flowers, Sugarplum Fairies veers from sleepy shoegaze to eclectic Vaudeville, featuring Lee Hazlewood reminiscent horn arrangements alongside languid soundscapes. Featuring musicians like Iggy Pop’s and Rilo Kiley’s Danny T. Levin and mastered by Ariel Pink’s and The Dandy Warhol’s Timothy Stollenwerk, the compilation invites you into dream.
The “Amper & Sand” music video was directed by Silvia Ryder, shot by Dylan Luster, and produced by Noise & Pixels.
Sugarplum Fairies encapsulates a casual elegance with flowing melodies and an ethereal vibe comparative to the works of Big Thief and Beach House. The warm sounds of Payday Flowers will become a vital addition to summer soundtracks.
