Macie Stewart – Mouth Full Of Glass (Orindal Records)

Macie Stewart is best known as one half of the indie rock duo Ohmme. On her debut, Mouth Full Of Glass, she takes a turn towards chamber pop and soft folk songs, and it is truly transcendent. These tracks meander through finger picked guitar melodies and skillfully composed orchestral arrangements.

There’s a soft magic to this record. Something you can’t quite put your finger on. Maybe it’s Stewart’s romantic lyricism or meandering composition, but there is something here that is truly inviting. This is certain to be one of the best folk records of the year. Don’t miss it!

Mouth Full Of Glass is out on Orindal Records.

The Muslims – Fuck These Fuckin Fascists (Epitaph Records)

Hailing from Durham, North Carolina The Muslims are sure to be the most in your face punk band you’ll hear all year. Their bouncy, off-the-wall brand of hardcore is reminiscent of familiar favorites like The Dead Kennedys or The Circle Jerks, and much like those bands they don’t shy away from confrontation.

On Fuck These Fuckin Fascists, the band takes on police brutality, the end of the American empire, systematic racism, and just about every other major issue in underground leftist politics. The track “Crotch Pop A Cop” is both a fuc king hilarious riot and a great introduction to everything this group stands for.

Fuck These Fuckin Fascists is out on Epitaph Records.

POP. 1280 – Museum On The Horizon (Profound Lore Records)

The highly anticipated fifth record from New York City post-punk outfit POP. 1280 has finally arrived. Museum On The Horizon is probably more parts industrial and darkwave than post-punk, but the record’s bold originality is just one of a number of things that makes it great.

This is truly the soundtrack the end of the world. Grimy, gritty, downright filthy production. Apocalyptic and angsty lyrics. What more do you need? This, I think a lot of people will agree, is the band’s opus. A record that has driven the group into new territory. I wouldn’t sleep on it!

Museum On The Horizon is out on Profound Lore Records.

Broken Baby – Late Stage Optimism (Poor Man Records)

Broken Baby, are an L.A. based group are equal parts indie and punk. They toe the line between pop sensibilities and hardcore ferocity. Late Stage Optimism is eleven tracks of solid fun and pure rock ’n’ roll. Never managing to be one-note, this is a record bursting at the seams with creativity.

The band is made up of Alex Dezen, the front man of The Damnwells, and Amber Bollinger who funnily enough is the former Ohio all-state high jump champion and a long time working Hollywood actress. This record is a fantastic display of genre spanning rock music. Really, don’t miss out!
