We’re pleased to bring you the premiere of Tidal Channel’s music video for their song “Soft Glitter Cosmos Needs A Pig War” (watch it below). The track is taken from the album BC35: The 35 Year Anniversary Of BC Studio, which is scheduled to be released on April 20, 2018 through Bronson Recordings. You can purchase the album here.
Genevieve Fernworthy of Tidal Channel commented on the song & video:
We had only gone through it once or twice. I don’t even think we had performed it live yet? I had just recorded a rough sketch of the music and sent it over to Billy to add poetry / vocals. We wanted to bring a track to the chopping block that balanced the urgency of performance but gave space for overdubs without sounding manufactured.
For the video, we wanted something that would perfectly capture the attention-deficient flash-overload of the track’s lyrics and beats, and our friend Scott Kiernan over at ESP-TV had just done an amazing video for Blue Jazz TV, so we were eager to work with him.
Billy Cancel of Tidal Channel added:
‘Soft Glitter Cosmos Needs A Pig War’ is a track that, essentially, is our desperate straw clutch aborted in the nebulous hype-cloud.
Our process is not so much a collaboration as an uneasy alliance—my ScanClusterScanScatter poetry smashed against Genevieve’s structured attack: A Pushcart-nominated poem hotwired by an orchestra of loopstations and forcefed in and out of the BC Studio console.
